Description: Hidden Lake is an undeveloped, water-based park. Backcountry camping is permitted, however, there are no facilities provided. Access to the 3000 hectare natural park is a series of rivers and lakes linked by short portages. Two day use areas, (Powder Point and Cameron Falls), provide access to the Park from the Ingraham Trail; the closest access point from Yellowknife is at Powder Point, some 45 km along the trail.Hidden Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the area east of Yellowknife. On a sunny day, this lake appears aquamarine in colour, and you can spot the fish swimming in its crystal clear water.Powder Point Day Use Area offers access by canoe to the east arm of Prelude Lake and thence to Hidden Lake; the Cameron Falls Trail is a pleasant short hike through the forest to Cameron Falls. Above the falls, a bridge provides access by foot into Hidden Lake Park. There are two abandoned gold mines within hiking distance of Hidden Lake. The first is on the southeast side of the lake, a quick walk in from the shoreline. The second is on Thompson Lake, a difficult two hour hike in from the most northerly bay of Hidden Lake. Neither of the mines has been in operation since the 1940’s.
